Oil Theft: Security Professional, Chuks Iwunoh, Tasks Anti-Corruption Agencies on Halting “Monstrous Sabotage”

Mr Chuks Iwunoh

A security professional, Mr Chuks Iwunoh, has asked anti-corruption agencies in the country to “rise up to the occasion and save the nation from further economic haemorrhage arising from theft of the nation’s oil”.

Mr Iwunoh who is a member of International Institute of Professional Security (IIPS), trained human rights consultant from the US Institute of Diplomacy and Human Rights, Washington DC and President/Founder of Impact Alliance for Peace and Humanitarian Development (IAPHD), stated this in a chat with Newsmedal.ng on Thursday.

The security professional lamented the less-than-impresive approach of the military in the matter “especially its haste to set ablaze one of the vessels caught in the act of illegally siphoning the nation’s oil thereby destroying hard evidence needed to seamlessly and successfully prosecute the culprits”. He therefore called on “anti-corruption agencies to rise to the occasion by conducting investigations and prosecute anyone found culpable in the monstrous sabotage no matter how highly placed they are”.

Mr Iwunoh said no serious nation will sit idly by and watch the “sickening depletion of its resources by criminal elements without acting decisively to halt the sabotage”.

Recall that the NNPC had last week discovered a 4-km long illegal pipeline used to illegally siphon oil on the Trans Escravos pipeline to the Afremo Test Line.
