It Is Misleading to Say Abia Assembly Abandoned Its Duties – Nwubani

The Special Adviser to the Governor of Abia State on Legislative Matters, Hon Mezie Nwubani has described as misleading the notion in some quarters that theAbia State House of Assembly has abandoned its duties because they embarked on their customary annual recess.

Hon Nwubani made this known today in a statement he released to the media.

The full statement reads:

Following misleading information that the Abia State House of Assembly abandoned its constitutional duties, may I inform that the House proceeded on its official annual vacation on the 21st of July and is still within its period of annual recess.

The 7th Abia State House of Assembly is moving on a fast lane. It has passed more than 15 Bills into Law, and despite the fact that the House is on recess, its committees which constitute the engine room of the House have not stopped working assiduously.

The Public Petitions committee has not reneged in handling sensitive matters committed to it. The committee on Appropriation has just concluded the 2021 Mid-Year Budget Performance Review while the Public Accounts committee is currently interfacing with the MDAS indicted by the 2020 Audit Report on the Accounts of the State submitted to the House by the state’s Auditor General.
